Ceanothus – New Jersey Tea – Recovery From Shock

Today I came across on a gardening show, the stunning ethereal Ceanothus.

Ceanothus Americana - New Jersey Tea or Red Root
Ceanothus Americana – New Jersey Tea or Red Root

Why it is called New Jersey Tea is because during the war of the American Revolution ie. the war which resulted in the USA forming as a country independent from Britain, American dependence on tea, which was at the time mostly imported through the British commercial networks, had to be stopped.

The leaves of this wild shrub were used instead of Camellia Sinensis – which is the usual tea plant.

Now if you have your teas right, you know it’s actually rather difficult to find something to replace the usual tea leaf. There’s something about Camellia Sinensis that’s just right. It doesn’t push you over the top in any way. It’s uplifting and calming and holding together in a very balanced way.

To find a replacement for such a balanced herb was no mean achievement, especially back then when tea was so much more than one choice of beverage among several others.

Ceanothus IS in fact a perfect replacement because like Camellia Sinensis, it ‘holds together’ the system. And not just in subtle ways but in very powerful direct ways.

In severe hemorrhage such as after childbirth, huge cuts with heavy bleeding, hemophilia and any other condition where the body needs urgent clot forming support, Ceanothus is a powerful medicine for first aid.

All sorts of reactions to stress or shock, where the person (or pet for that matter) experiences hemorrhage, diarhhea, or incontinence are helped immensely both for first aid and for later recovery from such episodes.

The loss of mental concentration and focus because of a shock is helped by taking Ceanothus.

Conditions that involve nervous trembling or twitching benefit from Ceanothus taken regularly as it supports building up the damaged parts of the nervous system, that were damaged due to bad recovery or lack of recovery from shock caused by sudden energy loss.

Radiation or other damage to the inner linings of the body whether in the ENT canal, the throat, the digestive lining or the bowels can be dealt with with the simple addition of a few drops of Ceanothus tincture.

To summarize it, imagine the body as a water body. Recovery from any shock to the water body, destabilizing the water and liquid movements, pooling and function, can be helped in a big way by Ceanothus.

I could go on and on writing about how Ceanothus can help every single organ in the body. It even is good for the teeth!

But I will end this post with – Ceanothus is powerful first aid for recovery from shock that has had a physical impact and physical symptoms. It is also a pain killer and helps long term recovery from the lingering effects of shock and trauma to the system.

Herbs to increase heart beat strength and support blood cell making

Some months ago I wrote about how the quality of blood cells being made in the body lessens drastically when faced with shock, trauma or a life not satisfying to the spirit.

I recommended the simple exercise where you feel your heart beat. Exercises of awareness are so simple, yet their power is amazing and doing them is so worth the few minutes they take.

When you look at it very close, the core of blood building function is a strong robust balanced heart beat. Support heart beat strength and you’re healing everything everywhere. The heart beat is what pushes life all around.

Now here is an example of something like the ultimate blood building function rehab tonic. I made it recently for a child recovering from heavy radiation. Radiation is a shock and the anemia it produces is one of the hardest types of anemia to treat as the very blood making function of the body is compromised.

This recipe provides for very serious intense blood building rehabilitation. It works almost immediately and can change the homeostasis of the body around quite drastically over a few weeks when taken regularly.

Where a person has not been able to respond to other medicine due to extreme weakness, this mix will provide the SOS help required to make the person rally.

In any emergency where is weakness caused by shock of any sort, this would be excellent first aid.

The herbs in this recipe are:

Mountain Ebony or Bauhinia Variegata
Rose Petals
Rosehips
Papaya leaf (young)
Pomegranate leaf and bud
Quis Qualis Indica – leaves and flowers
In Apple Cider Vinergar and Black Plum Vinegar

I make all of these together because the combination works so well and I use it for so many conditions, I don’t have to mix the ingredients in individually all over again every time I make it for someone.

Mountain Ebony or Bauhinia Variegata

We just had a wonderful flowering season after many years of Mountain Ebony. I could tell you all kinds of ways it helps the body but all you really need to know and remember is, it helps a scared or shocked or weak heart, keep beating. It increases heart beat strength. When this happens, automatically the rest of the body which takes its cue from the heart starts healing itself.

There’s this gap sometimes in the consciousness between what a person wants and them being able to invest the energy in that direction. Fear could be stopping us from crossing the bridge from dreaming into doing, or maybe a sense of insufficiency. Most often though, it’s fatigue. Long term, adrenal fatigue seems like something you just cannot get rid of.

But I can tell you from experience, that it’s quite easy to get rid of and one botanical that helps big-time is Mountain Ebony.

If you’ve got that anemic attitude to life where you look at things you like or would like to do and then turn away because you don’t think you or your life could make that happen, then you could do with some heart beat support, and something for PTSD would help as well.

Rose Petals & Rosehips

The flower and fruit of the Rose – how blessed are those who can have the Rose as a medicine. So commonly available yet such a powerful helper in all the challenges of life, because it offers vital support to the heart, blood and circulation. If you used just the rose as medicine in your life, you’d be quite alright in the long run.

Papaya leaf (young)

One of the rare botanicals that vigorously supports the making of blood platelets – a vital component of blood.

Long used in tropical areas for its powerful ability to fight the symptoms of dengue fever and malaria – which kill by lessening platelets in the blood, young Papaya leaves are used in my Super-antioxidant mix that is part of every treatment to support recovery from cancer that I make.

I have used it alone in a situation where it performed critical life support and turned a fever around that wasn’t coming down any other way. For a few hours, it stood between life and death, until the rest of the body was able to rally and respond to other medicine.

I consider it vital energy support, on the lines of Parsley for the brain and often combine the two for recovery from situations where blood circulation to the brain has been compromised.

Pomegranate leaf and bud

The pomegranate has been used traditionally in my family for general life support. The leaf and bud are especially helpful for situations which have some sort of starting trouble.

Energy confusion – where the person is sure but not sure but maybe sure but maybe not about some issue that is at the core of their life, and they are having starting trouble or having irregular rushes and then blockages of energy, can be greatly helped by the calm clarifying properties of Pomegranate leaf and bud.

Pomegranate leaf is a nervine in its own right; a strong decoction of the leaves can induce and support restful recuperative sleep.

Pomegranate bud is a tightener of the blood vessels – something like a astringent. It just tightens them up to stop leaking and slow passage of blood. It increases the strength of the vein walls and this contributes to an overall feeling of strength and vitality almost immediately.

Quis Qualis Indica – leaves and flowers

A most beautiful flower that blooms in the late afternoon and evenings, Quis Qualis supports the lymphatic system, the parts of us that make white blood cells that fight infection in the body and keep us in order.

In Apple Cider Vinegar and Black Plum Vinegar

Both the above are healers in their own right. Herbs extracted into them tend to work on a more holistic level than herbs extracted into alcohol. Black Plum or Damson Plum Vinegar is a powerful dose of immunity restorative nutrition for the body.

This recipe could be improved upon depending on your requirements. Many people need Mistletoe to help balance hormonal levels – it works wonderfully in combination with Mountain Ebony for hormonal balance.

Many others benefit from Milk Thistle, Dandelion and other liver function support to further support blood circulation.

Increase Nerve Force with Herbs, Food & Lifestyle Changes

One of the first signs of the process commonly called ‘premature aging’, is simply a decrease in nerve force.

Nerve force, very simply is the energy with which electrical signals go from one nerve cell to another.

When we find ourselves reacting to something slowly and with tiredness it means our nerve force is less.

If we are not able to react to sensory stimulation and enjoy things, our nerve force is less.

It is literally the speed at which the communication between the parts of the body is happening.

When our nerve force is low, the nervous signals feel like they’re going at the speed of postal mail versus email.

While there are many causes of it, from lack of enough sleep to fatigue caused by repetitive stress, to emotional shock caused by loss or grief, the human body is capable of adapting to a situation and maintaining nerve force.

A lot of the time food, drink, even herbs and other holistic treatments are used to artificially increase nerve force through adrenaline shocking the body, stressing the kidneys and surging the nervous system. The body reacts with chronic fatigue as it resists what it considers artificial stimulation as not something in the body’s memory of what’s natural.

For example, one such substance is MSG or mono-sodium glutamate, which is used in nearly all processed foods for its ability to increase nerve force giving a sort of quick but short-lived energy surge making the person eating become suddenly able to taste better. It increases nerve force so the report from the sense organs goes quickly to the brain and the brain says, “Yes, it’s yummy.” If you’ve ever craved eating something processed or that’s not cooked at home, chances are you’re craving MSG. But its list of harmful effects are legendary.

There are other additives to increase nerve force that are used in the processed food industry.

They all backfire sooner or later as the body learns to resist even them. Chronic allergies, histamine intolerance and auto-immune disorders are just some of the ways the body resists the intrusion.

The way to increase nerve force without pissing off the body and triggering off resistance, is to be nice and work with the body and the psyche, in ways considered friendly rather than forcing.

Natural Ways to Increase Nerve Force

1) Hormonal and Sensory Recognition

When we come in contact with, or even think of something our system recognizes naturally, instinctively, hormonally, our system responds with an increase of nerve force. This is what makes a child, even as an adult respond to the presence of their biological ancestors, parents and relatives with increased nerve force, making them heal faster, feel better. Even pictures of them, talking about them can help.

In the old days, a common prescription for someone with lessened nerve force was a trip to the sea or the mountains or some place where the person could come in touch with raw nature again. This is what makes nature in general healing; because our system recognizes what’s in nature and reacts with nerve force – quite literally push to live.

It used to be a practice in the days when people died of actual old age at home with their families, for their favorite foods from their childhood to be prepared for them when they got weak towards the end, because that would increase nerve force almost immediately.

If you are low on nerve force, no matter what the cause, bring into your life things comfortably familiar, something you loved and enjoyed in your childhood, something that reminds you of times when you were well. Change your diet to food traditional to your family.

Recently a woman who hemorrhaged every month had a sudden breakthrough when she added butter back into her diet. She’d given butter up for olive oil some years before. After she brought butter back into her diet because she realized she didn’t feel satisfaction from food until it had butter in it, as was traditional to he famil. That month she had her first normal period in twenty years.

We cannot over-think our food or lifestyle. Overall making our choices in life following our emotional and physical instincts (which are the same thing usually) leaves us better-off. There’s no point reaching a good point in life without the nerve force to actually enjoy the experience and build on it.

2) Herbs, food and drinks that increase nerve force, unwind, relax and remove blocks in the body.

In the short term, there are things we can eat and drink to help increase nerve force without pushing or forcing the body. I keep my herbal treatments light because I’ve found that there’s absolutely no point causing a fantastic ‘good’ reaction only for the body to slump back in the days after. Even in the short term, never take too much of anything. You do not want to overwhelm the body unless you’re in a severe emergency.

Herbs that comfort are those that increase nerve force in the short term.

They also work to rehabilitate the system, but a sure way to rehabilitation is to take herbs along with adding foods into your diet that remove blocks and areas of coagulated stuff in the body.

I’ll mention five of my favorite foods to do this: Parsley, Rolled Oats, Bananas, Onions and Natural Yeast Bread

Parsley because it’s just emergency nerve energy food. It could keep a dead man alive a little longer.

Oats and Bananas because they’re immediately nourishing nerve nourishing food.

Onions because onions help recover from even severe nerve energy loss.

This bunch of onions inspired this article. I’m a fan.

Have you ever felt such a lack of nerve force that you cannot even cry? Too tired to sleep? Onions will help you cry – not just by stinging your eyes but by helping unclog the body, helping blood move around easier.

You have to try it. Have some onion soup if not anything else. Or just add onions to everything you cook for a week or two and then reduce it.

Natural Yeast is a YUGE energizer of nerve force in the body.

I simply leave a little bit of flour and water covered with a cheese cloth for a day or two on the kitchen counter and it catches yeast right out of the air. You then knead that in with your dough, let it sit for a few hours and make bread out of it. It sounds like a lot of work, but after you’ve done it a few days it becomes very easy and is so worth the effort.

3) Going inwards

A lot of the time, the lack of nerve force is because the spirit of the person is not willing to keep sending energy outwards any more. The logic and why and wherefore of it do not matter. If there’s a lack of nerve force, it’s time to stop attention and energy from flowing out and either simply rest, or turn inwards.

The most successful people are those who are in touch with their spirit right through the noise of life, and know how to interact with the world in keeping with how their spirit wants their energy to be used.

If daily life energy use is NOT something our spirit supports, then we’re losing right there, whether it looks like it or not in the moment. We cannot sustain an effort in our lives that does not have our spirit supporting it.

When our spirit supports us, our body supports us and what we do then leads to success for us one way or another.

So if nerve force is weak, it’s time to go inward, energetically rest, and find out what we really want to do.

Positive and Negative Polarity – Holistic Recovery with Herbs from Radiotherapy and Radiation Damage

A time comes to every person who takes herbs and natural healing when they have to stop depending on herbs and cross over to being independently healthy again. Very few ever cross that line, and their body ends up developing resistance to the very herbs that are their medicine of choice.

Herbs to stimulate healing, detoxification and so on, are of the positive polarity, or solar, heating, pushing, moving. They include all those processes that are outgoing and heat generating and expanding and energy releasing. Cell growth, cell reproduction, regeneration of damaged tissue, they’re all positive or solar processes.

There are herbs that support the negative polarity or the lunar processes of the body, cooling, contracting and energy retaining.

These have to be taken at just the right time, to help bring the body into balance, into neutral, and then lessened to a point where you don’t need anything but your food and your water to keep healthy.

Just as the heart sends out blood to the entire body, so the heart receives blood from the entire body. It’s something that is happening in every part of us all the time.

Radiation is everywhere in our modern lifestyles, even if you don’t actually go through a radiotherapy session. It is experienced in mild ways across Australia, where I was told by a man who installed cable antennas, you won’t be covered by insurance for skin cancer if you don’t wear a hat when working outdoors. Radiation is delivered by microwaves, is in food that is irradiated to prevent it from spoiling, is generated by mobile phones, and any other number of radiation delivery devices.

Now radiation, simply over-stimulates the cells into the positive polarity causing the cell to release its stored energy, with which it was supposed to live long and reproduce into other cells before it died. When it suddenly releases all its stored energy, it burns out and dies, or goes weak.

This kills cells by making them overwork and get over-heated and, just like food gets heated up and if longer, burned, in the microwave.

This is one reason, radiotherapy is part of current medical treatment of cancer. Technically speaking, it should kill off just the bad boy cells and let the good boy cells be. In practical experience however, that is almost never what happens. Usually the good boys and girls end up weak and susceptible now to even more problems, and those far more widespread than before.

One reason herbal medicine for recovery from radiotherapy works so well is because herbs with high levels of natural energy (note: not all herbs are made alike) quickly supply the body with vital energy so the good boys and girls can keep going until they start functioning again and get back to collecting up energy for their life functions.

But this is where the bridge is. Ask anyone into natural living and they’ll tell you that a time comes when the herbs don’t ‘work’ like they did before.

The body balances out everything, even herbs. After a certain crisis has been crossed, the body will start treating the same herb it treated like gold during the crisis, now like any other food, passing out most of it. The body thinks, “I’m getting so much of it regularly, no point storing it around, let’s store the rarer stuff, this one’s always available.”

So that’s what’s happening on this side of the bridge. You can cross over the bridge now, to the other side, where the cells are all making their own energy like before, where the body is well like before, through one simple thing – energy balancing your cells, so they’re no longer in the state the radiation put them in – which was over-stimulated.

The herbs which help the body recover from over-stimulated, support the negative polarity in the body, or the ‘lunar’ processes.

These herbs don’t work aggressively, their whole benefit is that they are NOT aggressive. Many of these herbs have little white or yellow flowers, and grow as weeds. Most of them make you thirsty – think lunar, think moon, think water – because they help detoxify the body through the water networks of the body.

A few of the Negative Polarity or Lunar herbs that come to mind right now are:

Gelsemium or Yellow Jasmine will bring down a fever, calm an over-heated brain in summer, stop a new mother’s hemorrhage.

The lacy Elderflower (Sambucus) will strengthen the nerve endings of the lungs and other organs as well slowly but surely after a violent epileptic, or asthmatic attack, healing damage caused by spasms and cellular over heating.

Rauwolfia Serpentina or Snakeroot with it’s little white flowers calms an over-heated brain in deep ways, supporting better sleep quality and recovery from the damage caused by mental and emotional stress to the brain and nervous system.

Lily of the Valley or Convallaria – another intoxicating addictive beautiful white flower – you definitely ought not to have too much of it, but in tiny medicinal proportions it releases tension from the nerves around the heart, and the uterus. For recovery from a traumatic shock, it does wonders.

Then there’s the crazy amazing Datura or Moonflower not so tiny, but definitely a lunar flower. This one works by heating the system so much, the system fights back cooling itself and demanding water, lots of it. The nerves cramp tight, really tight and then release. Again, only tiny doses, and it’s better applied externally unless you want a psychedelic trip into the moony roots of you.

Bamboo amazingly supports the negative polarity processes of the body and can make a sudden change for the better when combined with any other natural healing because it supports the body in moving energy around.

Whenever you see a little white flower, know that it supports the negative polarity and the lunar parts of the body.

Our lives are so full of over-stimulation and the residual effects of it, that we couldn’t really have too much of the lunar flowers for a long time to come.

Do remember however that the point of all this is to become energy balanced and when all is said and done, we have to keep energy moving. Energy = Feelings. So keeping our feelings moving through us, through the body is essential, that final last step to becoming self sufficient again.
